How to Add a Gold Price Widget on iPhone
A gold price widget lets you check spot prices from your iPhone Home Screen, Lock Screen, or Today View without opening a full market app. Gold Tracker supports widgets for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, with customizable currencies and weight units.
Quick Answer
To add a gold price widget on iPhone, install Gold Tracker, confirm the widget add-on is purchased or restored, then add Gold Tracker from the iOS widget picker. After it appears, touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, and choose the metals, currency, and weight unit you want to see.
Before You Add the Widget
Gold Tracker widgets are a paid add-on inside the app. If you already purchased them, open Gold Tracker and restore purchases before adding the widget. This makes sure iOS can find the widget options and display current metals prices.
Gold Tracker can show prices for gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. You can set the widget to your preferred currency and weight unit, such as troy ounces, grams, or kilograms.
Add a Gold Price Widget to Your Home Screen
- Touch and hold an empty area on your iPhone Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap Edit, then tap Add Widget.
- Search for or scroll to Gold Tracker.
- Choose the widget size you want.
- Tap Add Widget, then tap Done.
A Home Screen widget is best if you check metals often during the day. You can keep gold and silver visible next to the apps you already use.
Add a Gold Price Widget to Your Lock Screen
- Touch and hold the Lock Screen until the Customize button appears.
- Tap Customize, then select the Lock Screen preview.
- Tap the widget area below the clock.
- Choose Gold Tracker from the widget list.
- Tap Done to save the Lock Screen.
Lock Screen widgets are useful when you want a quick quote without unlocking the phone or opening the app.
Customize Metals, Currency, and Weight Unit
Each Gold Tracker widget can have its own settings. That means you can use one widget for gold in USD per troy ounce and another for silver in grams, or keep a compact Lock Screen widget focused on one metal.
- Touch and hold the Gold Tracker widget.
- Tap Edit Widget.
- Choose which metals appear.
- Choose the currency for prices.
- Choose the weight unit.
- Tap outside the widget editor to save.
If the Widget Is Blank
If your Gold Tracker widget stays blank, check whether the app is locked with iOS's built-in Require Face ID app lock feature. When an app is locked this way, iOS blocks its widgets from showing data.
To fix it, find Gold Tracker on your Home Screen, touch and hold the app icon, and remove the Require Face ID lock for Gold Tracker. This does not change Face ID for unlocking your iPhone or for other apps.

Widgets vs. Apple Watch Complications
Widgets are best when you want metals prices on your iPhone Home Screen or Lock Screen. Apple Watch complications are better when you want prices on your wrist. Gold Tracker supports both, so you can put spot prices wherever you check them most often.
